Magico S5 Loudspeaker

BEST SOUND OF SHOW (2012 Munich Hi End Show) “Actively displayed for the first time, Magico’s most affordable aluminum-bodied multiways, the $28k S5s, on the other hand, were tremendously engaging, utterly delightful, very lifelike on lifelike recordings, and joys to listen to…Magico is going to have what I think will be its hottest seller yet in this wonderful transducer.” – Jonathan Valin, The Absolute Sound, report on 2012 Munich Show

“It offers the lowest level of listener fatigue I have yet encountered under £100,000, and tells very clearly how micro resonant and ‘noisy’ many loudspeakers are… In achieving this very high standard of natural dynamics, very low distortion, vanishingly low coloration, very low fatigue, exceptional transparency and an almost magically powerful, speedy, upbeat bass, the Magico team should be applauded. Incredible as it may seem, in the high end arena the Magico S5 Loudspeaker is actually rather good value, as its complete performance reaches massively beyond its price. – Martin Colloms in Hi Fi Critic (read the review)

“The Magico S5 Loudspeaker was robust and powerful in the bass, smooth yet detailed in the treble, with an intoxicating midrange that would seem to invite long listening sessions. The highs were airy and fast over the several cuts we heard, yet they never became harsh — the Magico S5 Loudspeaker seems to be voiced just right, actually. But the bass — oh, the bass. First, it freakin’ pounded. I mean, shake-the-walls and rattle-the-rafters pounded. These speakers will play loud, clean, and loud — frankly, they played louder than any speaker I’ve heard anywhere near their size. My initial reaction is that a pair of them will have astonishing dynamic range, but that they can also display finesse when needed. And they always maintained that silky smooth midrange no matter the cut we heard…

My prediction? Magico will sell more of these speakers than any other model in the company’s history. They are that good for a price that is that right!”  – Jeff Fritz, The Soundstage Network (read the review)

The Magico S5’s perform with 3-way sound and 4-driver set, encased in ½ inch thick aluminum. The set draws its power and quality from the previous M5 and V3 models. The case plays a significant role in the sound output due to the highly engineered, extruded aluminum casing with anodized finish. The cabinet is extensively designed to eliminate distortions, diffraction effects, internal resonance and sound dampening. Each speaker sports a dual neodymium motor system, the 6-inch M380 mid-range driver, with titanium coils for the highest-quality sounds. Top and bottom frequencies are supplied by hybrid nano-tech bass drivers and the beryllium diaphragm MB-30 1-inch tweeter.
