Testimonials (on all Proac Response loudspeakers)

“The ProAc D48R in a moderately sized room delivers so much of what you’d expect from a $40k–$60k pair of speakers {yet they cost a fraction of that} , there’s hardly a reason to spend more, unless you just have to play music in a massive room at headbanging levels. For all but the most well-heeled audio enthusiast, these will provide a fantastic upgrade from someone currently listening to speakers in the $3k–$5k range and will prove an excellent anchor for a system in the $20k–$80k range. Even when we paired the D48Rs with considerably more expensive electronics, they deliver a command performance.

Our European readers are well aware of ProAcs full range of loudspeakers, but many here in North America only know ProAc for the (excellent) Tablette.  The D48Rs small 8 ¾ inch wide by 13 ½ inch deep profile takes up precious little more floor space than a pair of Tablettes on stands, so they should fit anywhere with ease, and a wide range of finishes are available. Those concerned with aesthetics will love the high degree of fit and finish that these speakers present, so they will complement any décor.”

5 Stars out of 5
“The seamless integration between the trio of drive units means vocals are as articulate and naturally expressive as you like… the D40/Rs deliver a huge soundstage populated by beautifully focused images. We’re really taken with the Response D40/Rs.”

“The ProAc D38 sounds open and effortless, sweet in the treble, gutsy down low, and very involving with all types of music. To my ears, it retains Stewart Tyler’s sought-after emotion and mixes it with a lighter, more detailed and boxless presentation. The D38 is transparent than earlier Response-series speakers as well.

Stewart Tyler has succeeded in making a speaker that enhances the emotional connection with the music and has bettered his previous best, the $20,000-per-pair Response Four, in some meaningful ways. In fact, if the D38s had been available when I bought my Response Fours, I would have purchased them instead. Such improvement at a far lower price is something about which ProAc can be very proud.”

ProAc Response D48R Loudspeaker

The ProAc Response D48R is identical to the D48, however utilises a ribbon tweeter.

Areas of improvement have been mid-range detail and a cleaner, faster and more extended bass response. A new studio monitor quality bass driver was designed for the D48. It features a special impregnated cone and mid frequencies are tuned by a cap of greater size than standard. This gives the new unit greater mid-range detail along with excellent bass control giving a tighter and more extended response. The two new bass drivers are each loaded through our special floor loading with side vents, this makes the loudspeaker easier to sight and reacts less to surroundings. The two bass units are then seamlessly mated to our ribbon or dome tweeter depending on your preference. With such a large slim floor standing design the sound stage is superb being very large and with pinpoint imagery. Another achievement for the D48 is its ability to create large orchestral works as well as heavy rock music.

The D48 has a high quality filter network designed by Stewart Tyler comprising of the finest components, ProAc cable on a special board. The filter is also split for bi-amping and bi-wiring. This is one of the best designs from ProAc and should please all audio files regardless of their taste in music.
